Dominated by the Leaning Tower, Piazza dei Miracoli is the hub around which the artistic and architectural fame of Pisa revolves. The dazzling whitness of the monuments, rising from the radiant green of the grounds of the Piazza, is a unique spectacle for visitors. The harmony of the arches which makes the imposing structure of the Leaning Tower so gcaful is repeated in the nearby cathedral and a little further away – the Baptistery, creating a visual and stylistic continuum of rare beauty. Two further attractions on Piazza dei Miracoli are the Museo delle Sinopie, with its collection of preparatory drawings for the frescoes of the Camposanto, and the Museo dell’Opera del Duomo, with its impressive collection of sculptures, paintings and reliquaries. In 1987, UNESCO included Piazza dei Miracoli on its World Heritage list.
